Downtown Trolley to Explore New
Opportunities
MORGANTOWN, WV
– The Mountain Line Transit Authority is announcing a shift in service focus of
its Downtown Trolley bus services.
Mountain Line will be exploring new ventures designed to improve service
to the community. With an anticipated
August 2004 launch date for new initiatives and services, Trolley services will
be targeted to support existing community events and activities such as fairs,
festivals, cultural events, and general community promotions. Mountain Line plans to discontinue its dedicated
Downtown Trolley route after July 2 and begin the process of identifying new
service opportunities that tie together Downtown Morgantown, the Riverfront, West
Virginia University,
and the larger community.
During the past three years, the Downtown Trolley
or “Lunch Box Jitney” service has provided thousands of rides during the
lunchtime hours by offering a convenient and inexpensive way to travel between
the Wharf District, Downtown Morgantown, and West
Virginia University.
The Lunch Box Jitney service will continue to be available weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30
p.m. through July 2, 2004.
Service to these areas will be provided by Mountain Line’s regularly scheduled
bus services after July 2.
