Bus Service to Towne Centre Mall

MORGANTOWN, WV – The Mountain Line Transit Authority is pleased to announce proposed service changes to the newly developing University Towne Center Mall area. The Authority is proposing adjustments to its existing Cassville and Ames Mall routes to serve the Towne Centre area.

The Towne Centre area will be accessible from Mountain Line’s downtown Depot departing at the bottom of each hour from 8:30 am through 4:30 pm under this new service plan. This proposal will rename the old Ames Mall route to the Orange Line. The new Orange Line will serve Westover, the Morgantown Mall & Commons, University Towne Center, the Coliseum, the Evansdale Residential Complex, the CAC, Beechurst Avenue, and High Street.

Mountain Line patrons will be offered two return trips per hour from the Towne Centre area to meet their needs. Customers can catch the Cassville bus at the bottom of each hour from 7:34 am through 5:34 pm (Monday through Friday) for a return trip to the Depot or, area visitors can catch the Orange Line at 5 minutes till each hour (7:55 am through 4:55 pm) for a return trip to the Depot by way of Evansdale Drive and Beechurst Avenue (Monday through Saturday). Mountain Line passengers in the Cassville area will have a direct trip to the new shopping venue.

The Transit Authority will consider these changes at their February and March Board Meetings, and the public is invited to attend the Authority’s February Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) Meeting on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the Garrett Street Depot. Monthly CAC Meetings begin at 1:00 pm and these proposed changes are a planned Agenda Item for the February Meeting. Additionally, the public is invited to provide comments or attend the Authority’s monthly Board Meetings at 6:00 pm, the second Wednesday of every month at the Garrett Street Depot.
