Don Knotts (Rt. 50) will change to add evening service until 8:44PM, add Sunday service as well as additional service to Scott Avenue (Valley Health, Caritas House and Hope Hill) on both inbound and outbound trips. This change will be implemented beginning August 15, 2021. PROPOSED CHANGES TO RT 50 Don KNOTTS Morgantown, WV- Mountain Line Transit Authority is proposing changes to the Don Knotts Route (rt. 50) that will add Sunday service, additional evening service, as well as additional service to Scott Avenue. At this time Mountain Line is asking for feedback on the proposed changes. Proposed changes to the route schedule will have the return trip to Westover Terminal arriving 10 minutes later than previously scheduled. Mountain Line would like to hear if this 10 minute change will negatively impact any of our riders and their ability to make other route connections. SMI Ending Bus Pass Program Effective Dec 31 Morgantown, WV – Mountain Line Transit Authority wants to remind pass holders using Senior Monongalians Passes (SMI Passes) that these passes will expire on December 31. We are encouraging all current SMI Pass users to register for a Property Tax Pass to determine their eligibility to continue using pre-paid bus transportation services. Not all SMI Pass Holders will qualify. Information on the Tax Pass Program can be found here . Mountain Line wants to thank the Senior Monongalians for their financial support over the past 10+ years through their SMI Pass Program funding. More than 1,000 seniors were registered through the SMI Pass Program since its inception in 2010. SMI decided to terminate the program this fall with the effective end date of December 31, 2020.

If you feel ill or have any symptoms do not ride. Masks will remain mandatory on all vehicles and in all facilities until further notice. As a continuing preparation for response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mountain Line Transit has developed different service levels that will run depending on the number of drivers available each day. This change is due to a Healthy Streets Initiative to provide safe recreational access on Western Avenue and Lawnview Drive. The proposed route will travel from Fairfield St to Junior to Aspen to Collins Ferry. The route will no longer service Western Ave or Lawnview Drive. At this time Mountain Line is asking for your feedback on this proposed change, a survey is available at busride.org. A public hearing will be held during the October Board Meeting on Wednesday October 14 prior to the Board voting on the issue. MOUNTAIN LINE TRANSIT AUTHORITY Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: September 11, 2020 Contact: Maria Smith, Assistant Manager Admin & Marketing Phone: (304) 296-3680 SHORT TO MEDIUM RANGE TRANSPORTATION PLAN The Morgantown Monongalia Metropolitan Planning Organization is assisting the Mountain Line Transit Authority in developing a short to medium term strategic plan for the bus system. In collaboration with the community and stakeholders, the plan will guide Mountain Line investments to the year 2025. Mountain Line has been strategically expanding service and working with area partners to connect the region more efficiently and effectively, to create greater mobility in the region. As part of these strategic efforts, Mountain Line is working on this transit plan to identify necessary changes, enhancements or expansion to continue quality service for current riders while attracting more riders to the system. The plan will look to effectively orient the agency and its transit service for the future. The planning study engaged the community through multiple meetings, in-person events, and online activities in spring 2019. Through the support of comments from hundreds of people, the study team has created a framework of draft recommendations. The study team has taken into consideration recent events including the disruption from COVID-19 and what it means for the future of transportation. Additional community input will help guide the planning process. Engagement will be digital through online tools. Public Meeting Please join the study team at a virtual public meeting event at plantogether.org and busride.org: Thursday, September 24, 2020 4:30-6:30 pm Presentations will occur at 4:45 pm, 5:15 pm, and 5:45 pm. MOUNTAIN LINE TRANSIT AUTHORITY Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: August 13, 2020 Contact: Maria Smith, Assistant Manager Admin & Marketing Phone: (304) 296-3680 Service Adjustments Morgantown, WV- Mountain Line Transit Authority will be making small adjustments to six routes in order to consolidate system runs, fix some problem areas and to better coordinate different routes. These new changes will begin Sunday August 16th. The route changes are as follows: Route 3 Green Line - Monday through Friday service will now begin 25 minutes earlier at 7:45 AM and will depart the Westover Terminal every 30 minutes until 8:45 PM. Rt 9 Purple Line – The Purple Line route map has been changed to reflect a change in service to the Chestnut Hill Complex (no longer entering their parking lot). Rt 14 Mountain Heights – The Mt Heights map will be changed to reflect that the route travels into the Sabraton Sheetz plaza and fronts the Goodwill bus shelter. Rt 16 Pink Line – A minor time adjustments has been made to the last Pink Line run of each day. Rt 50 Don Knotts – Don Knotts will now travel into the South U Plaza by request only. Rt 51 Westridge Mylan – This route will now service the Mylan Aquatic Center, minor time adjustments have been made to the schedule to accommodate this new service. The changes are as follows: Blue & Gold (Route 38) : Friday August 14, evening service will begin and will run Monday through Friday from 6:40 PM until 8:40 PM. West Run Express (Route 30) : Evening service will begin on Friday August 14 and will run Monday through Friday from 5:10 PM until 8:30 PM with the exception of Fall, Winter and Spring Breaks. West Run Late Night (Route 30) : Late night service begins on Friday August 14 and will run every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 PM until 2:30 AM during Fall and Spring sessions with the exception of Fall, Winter and Spring Breaks. Campus PM (Route 1) : Service will begin Friday August 14 and will run every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6:00 PM until 2:50 AM with the exception of Fall, Winter and Spring Breaks. MOUNTAIN LINE TRANSIT AUTHORITY Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: Tuesday January 5, 2013 Contact: Maria Smith, Marketing Officer Phone: (304) 296-3680 TYRONE ROUTE ADJUSTMENT Morgantown, WV- Mountain Line Transit Authority is announcing a route adjustment to the Tyrone Schedule, effective Monday, February 11th. Tyrone will be utilizing the new Cheat Lake Bridge and will no longer be traveling the Interstate. These changes will help to keep this route on schedule. The bus will now travel Tyrone-Avery Road to Cheat Road to the Cheat Lake Bridge, proceeding on to Mon-Fayette Industrial Park to turn around, then will travel Bowers Lane/Sunset Beach Rd to Ashbrooke. Traveling back across the new Cheat Lake Bridge, the bus will travel Cheat Road making a left onto Tyrone and out towards Dellslow. Beginning January 2, passengers can request a Transfer Ticket from their driver when traveling to the Garrett Street Depot if they plan to transfer to another bus to reach their final destination. Passengers need only ask their driver for a Transfer Ticket when they board the bus and pay the standard 75 cent fare or use a 15-ride pass. Previously, the Authority offered free rides to the Depot to assist passengers crossing University Avenue, a practice implemented before the installation of crosswalks and pedestrian stop requests at key intersections along the busy roadway separating Downtown from the Garrett Street facility. The service area affected includes pickup points along Spruce Street, High Street, Foundry and Kirk Streets for anyone traveling to the Downtown Garrett Street Depot.
