The NewFIT program does not have sustaining funds. In order to extend the life of the program we will maximize efficiency as much as possible. We may ask that your appointment be grouped with others, and we may also provide part of your trip using the Mountain Line Transit local route system.

The NewFIT program does not have sustaining funds. So in order to extend the life of the program we will maximize efficiency as much as possible. This means we may ask that your appointment be grouped with others, and we may also provide part of your trip using the Mountain Line Transit local route system.


Days of Operation:

NewFIT will operate Monday through Friday except New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

 

Area Serviced:

NewFIT will travel the boundaries of Monongalia County and will be limited by trip availablity and service demands. 

 

Who Is Eligible? 

This program is intended to provide service for medical appointments to riders who have no other transportation options. Riders with Medicare or riders who are able to pay out of pocket may benefit most from this service. For those covered by Medicaid, you will be directed to other resources available to you.

If you live on bus route we encourage you to used the fixed route transit service before NewFIT. Deviations for fixed routes may be available.

 

NewFIT Rates:

The cost to ride is $10.00 one way, $20.00 round trip. All fares must be paid in advance.

 

To Ride With NewFIT

1. Complete the on-boarding survey:

You can fill out an on-boarding survey using the button at the top of this page. You can also fill one out in person at the Westover Terminal or call 304.296.3869.


2. Set up an appointment:

If your on-boarding survey led to an approval for services you need to set up your appointment by using the button at the top of this page. Please be ready with your return trip information. 


3. Pay for your appointment:

You will be notified if your trip is approved. Upon approval you must pay for the trip before it is scheduled.


4. Prepare for your trip:

On the day of your appointment be ready and waiting 5 minutes prior to your pick up time. If you need to cancel, call 24 hours prior to your pick up time. There are no refunds for cancellations or no shows. No shows will lead to termination of service.

Monday - Friday

Service runs each day based on need. Trips need to be requested and submitted by 5:00 pm Wednesday of the week prior to the scheduled appointment.

To make an appointment:

3. Be ready to leave 5 minutes prior to your pick-up time.



We can not transport individuals with open wounds - Drivers do not enter houses - Drivers do not provide lifting services - Riders need to be with care provider or be able to travel and move independently.
