Mountain Line Transit Hosts Statewide Maintenance Training
Morgantown, WV – April 2025 – Mountain Line Transit Authority proudly welcomed transit vehicle maintenance professionals from across West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio for a three-day transit maintenance training held this week at its Morgantown facility.
The training was provided by the West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Multimodal Transportation Facilities - Transit, and organized by the West Virginia Public Transit Association (WVPTA). Event coordination was managed by West Virginia OMEGA, helping connect transit agencies, trainers, and technical experts from across the region.
Instruction was led by internationally recognized fleet maintenance consultant Halsey King, who shared insights into preventive maintenance practices, safety compliance, cost management, and system failure analysis. The training also featured technical sessions from Cummins Engines, with David Keiser, Technical Support Manager, and Adam Derrick, Operations Manager of the Cummins Fairmont facility.
David Clawson of Rohrer Bus also participated, providing valuable industry insight and feedback throughout the sessions.
Participants engaged in hands-on learning covering key topics such as federal and state safety regulations, ADA compliance, inspections of safety-sensitive systems, and cost-effective maintenance strategies tailored to today’s transit environment.
“This training reflects the power of collaboration and our shared commitment to safe, efficient transit service,” said Bill Robinson, Executive Director of the West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Multimodal Transportation Facilities - Transit. “We’re proud to bring professionals together from across the region to share knowledge and strengthen the workforce that keeps our communities moving.”
