MOUNTAIN LINE TRANSIT ANNOUNCES NEW BUSES
Morgantown, WV- New Mountain Line buses have arrived from California. The Authority will introduce four of the five new buses to the local community starting tomorrow.
The five new buses that will travel the various local routes were purchased with Levy Funding as well as Federal Grants. These heavy duty buses made by Gillig, of Livermore, California, weigh approximately 26,440 pounds and are 102 inches wide and 35 feet long. Seating is for up to 32 people with additional standing room. In addition to kneeling chassis and quick loading fold out ramps, each bus has a new system for mobility aids, such as wheelchairs or scooters, which allow the user to secure themselves in place independently of the bus driver.
Each bus is equipped with a bike rack, and digital signage on the front, curb and back of the bus. These $477,386 buses are built with several safety features inside and out, including some additional features put in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic response. These features include plexiglass barriers between the driver and onboarding passengers, plastic seating for easier sanitizing, a new HVAC system and tilt in windows that allow for faster air circulation.
